They are begging younger Brothers to "reach out".
We have 7 Elders; 2 in their 70's, 4 in the 60's and 1 in his 50's.
having just come back from the uk and spoke with some witnesses to find out how my old congregation is doing, i realized i am now the age that my elders were when i was a kid.
and i wonder what the elders who are now in their 60s and 70s are thinking when they look in the mirror and an old face looks back at them.
many of the elders in my old hall are now retired.

i have expressed in this forum that sometimes im confused as to what will be my ultimate decision.
at this point in my life there is too much at stake.
first, my own emotional estate, ill hate to bitterly regret the years expend taking unnecessary emotional abuse and theocratic bulling.
a friend at the convention told me that kenneth williams, a co in the houston texas area was recently removed and taken off the road.
does any one have any details?

those that already been were saying how great it was and all the videos that were presented.. well, thus far not impressed!

years ago there was a thread about rumors that society was paying into a retirement fund for circuit overseers.
could any recent ex-bethelite confirm or deny.
here is the old thread:.

Very coincidental that you posted that. Just three minutes ago I was talking about that with my wife. I have a friend who retired in the last year or two from a federal govt job. He was only 54 or 55 when he retired. He is making more in retirement than my wife and I make together both working full-time. We have no prospects for retirement. I will probably literally have to work until I drop dead.
Government jobs are the best, they don't pay well up front but the benefits when you retire are awesome. A school teacher friend just retired at the age of 55. He will not collect 75% of his pay until he dies, when he hits 59( so not to be penalized by the irs), he will get a one time payout close to $200,000. This is what happens when you plan ahead for retirement!
Don Wallace explained that his and Arlene's parents survived the Great Depression and were taught not to waste money on frivolous things. So, they both decided to have a plan A and a plan B. Prepare that the End could come any day, and if it did not, have enough money to live on during their Golden Years. By the way, someone told that Arlene now about 86, is very ill and may not be alive for much longer. They are in Scottsboro AL.

Don Wallace ( DO & CO for over 40 years), retired in our area 8 years ago and I took him out to lunch recently.
He told me that "He was one of the smart ones". "While many of our fellow Overseers were telling us of all these exotic places they have been too, Arlene and just kept our life simple and saved for retirement. When we came off the road, we paid for a house in cash and bought 2 cars in cash. The Society sends us a little over $500 a month, I am able to draw SSI because I did work secularly for 10 years. We are better off now than those who come off the road!"
I said: "You are about the only smart ex CO that I know". He added: "Jim Crosley in Sanford Florida also made sure he was set for retirement.
